Disney + Artemis Fowl release date and new TV spot!
Artemis Fowl, from director Kenneth Branagh (Murder in the East, Thor, Much Ado About Nothing), starring Ferdia Shaw and Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell (The Lobster in Bruges, The Gentlemen), is heading straight for Disney + . The film that was originally scheduled to open in theaters on May 29 is coming to the streaming service on June 12. Check out the new TV commercial below!

Based on the beloved book by Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl is a fantastic and fascinating adventure that follows the journey of 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl, descended from a long line of criminal mentors, as he seeks to find his father who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler, Artemis decides to find him and, in doing so, discovers an ancient underground civilization – the incredibly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father's disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive and secretive world of the fairies, Artemis artfully invents a dangerous plan – so dangerous that he ends up in a dangerous intelligence war with the omnipotent fairies.
Newcomer Ferdia Shaw plays the title character, with Colin Farrell as Artemis’s creator father, Lara McDonnell (Love, Rosie), playing Captain Holly Short, a feisty and witty elf who is kidnapped by Artemis by a gold fairy rescue. In the underground fairy world of Haven City, Oscar winner Dame Judi Dench (Skyfall) plays Commander Root, leader of the LEPrecon reconnaissance division, the fairy police force, and Josh Gad (Beauty and the Beast) plays Mulch Diggums , a kleptomaniac dwarf, who tries to help rescue Holly.
It will also feature Nonso Anozie (Cinderella) as Butler, Tamara Smart (The worst witch) as Butler's niece Juliet and Miranda Raison (Murder on the Orient Express) as Artemis's mother, Angeline. Other cast members include Josh McGuire (About Time), Hong Chau (Downsizing), Nikesh Patel (London Fallen), Michael Abubakar (Trust Me), Jake Davies (A Brilliant Young Mind), Rachel Denning (Doctor Who), Matt Jessup (Dread), Simone Kirby (Alice Through the Looking Glass), Sally Messham (Ally) and Adrian Scarborough (Les Misérables).

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the book was adapted for the screen by the award-winning playwright Conor McPherson. Artemis Fowl is produced by Branagh and Judy Hofflund, with Matthew Jenkins and Angus More Gordon acting as executive producers.
Branagh brings back several members of his creative team, including Haris Zambarloukos, director of photography; Jim Clay, production designer; Patrick Doyle, composer; and Carol Hemming, hair and makeup designer – all working on Branagh's 2017 director project, Murder on the Orient Express. The costume designer is Sammy Sheldon Differ (Assassin's Creed), and the film will be edited by Martin Walsh (Wonder Woman).
