During last night's Game Awards, Warner Bros. Pictures premiered a new TV commercial for the highly anticipated DC movie Birds of Prey. The video features new footage highlighting the upcoming clash between the badass title group led by Harley Quinn and the antagonists of the movie Black Mask and Victor Zsasz. Margot Robbie will reprise her role in Harley Quinn's Suicide Squad in the film, which will also star Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, Ewan McGregor as Villain Black Mask, Chris Messina as Victor. Zsasz and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya. Ali Wong (Fresh Off the Boat), Robert Catrini (American Crime Story), Steven Williams (IT) and Derek Wilson (Preacher) complete the cast.

Cathy Yan (Dead pigs) will direct the spin-off, making her the first Asian director to direct a superhero movie. The script was written by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee).

At the DC Comics, Birds of Prey is a female superhero team including Oracle / Batgirl, Black Canary, Huntress, Catwoman, Hawkwoman, Power Girl, Poison Ivy, Vixen and Katana, which was played by Karen Fukuhara Suicide squad. A short live action TV series titled Birds of Prey aired on The WB from 2002 to 2003 for 13 episodes, starring Ashley Scott as Huntress, Dina Meyer as Barbara Gordon / Oracle, Ian Abercrombie as Alfred Pennyworth and Mia. Sara as Harley Quinn.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantasticous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is slated for theatrical release on February 7, 2020.
