Last year brought gamers some video game titles including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Death Stranding. ComingSoon.net is now awaiting some of the biggest titles released in 2020 and we've put together 10 of the most anticipated games we're looking forward to in the new year. Final Fantasy VII Remake
In 2015, it was announced that the remake of the 1997 classic (and probably the best part of the franchise besides Final Fantasy X), Final Fantasy VII was under development, with original artist Tetsuya Nomura working as director. The remake should retell the story of the original game, following fan favorite Cloud Strife. Square Enix RPG will be released on PlayStation 4 on March 3.
Fans had to look forward to the DOOM sequel after the game was postponed from its original release date in November, but something tells us that the title will be worth the wait. As DOOM Slayer, you will return to take revenge on the forces of hell. Defined as a whole new soundtrack composed by Mick Gordon, you'll fight in various dimensions as you kill new and classic demons with powerful new weapons and skills. DOOM Eternal will be released on March 20 on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC.
Resident Evil 3 Remake
The producers of Capcom's Resident Evil 3 remake confirmed that their work on the game "is about 90% complete" and believes that "there will be no delay". The remake is considered “even more a remix of the original” than the Resident Evil 2 remake, including making the cast of the game “more attractive”. The title will also include Project Resistance, a terrifying single player campaign and a one on four online multiplayer. In the remake, players will escape the ruin of Raccoon City as Jill Valentine in the reimagining of the survival horror classic. The title is due out April 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Our most anticipated game of 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in the fictional world of Night City, California, in the year 2077. The world is shattered as MegaCorps manage all aspects of the upper floors of their fortresses. The streets are run by illegal drug trafficking gangs, technology traffickers and gunmen. The environment is where decay, sex and pop culture mingle with violent crime, extreme poverty and the unattainable promise of the American dream. CD Projekt Red's open-world RPG featuring the only Keanu Reeves will include multiplayer action sometime after the game's release on April 16 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Square Enix's action-adventure game begins on A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, the Black Widow, and Thor are inaugurating a Avengers technology headquarters in San Francisco, including the revelation of their helicopter itself carried by an experimental power source. Celebration becomes deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. The Avengers dissolve, and five years later, with all the forbidden superheroes and the world in danger, the only hope is to reunite. Players will live their dreams of superheroes within the ever-expanding cinematic universe with individual and cooperative gameplay. The game will be released May 15 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The Last of Us Part II
Set five years after the events of the first game, 19-year-old Ellie found an appearance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She had a chance to be a teenager and create lasting relationships. When this peace is interrupted by a violent act, Ellie is pushed into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by the need to bring those who have harmed her to justice, pushing her to her limits. From the way Ellie plays to the way she navigates this hostile world, you will feel her physical, emotional and mental state expressed in every facet of the gameplay. Naughty Dog's highly anticipated sequel will be released May 29 on PlayStation 4.
Sucker Punch Productions' action-adventure title takes place in 1274. Samurai warriors are Japan's legendary defenders until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades Tsushima Island, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But honorable tactics will not lead you to victory. You must go beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting – the Phantom way – while fighting an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan. The game has done a great deal of damage at the 2019 Game Awards and is due for release this summer of 2020. on PlayStation 4.
Dying Light 2
The 2015 Dying Light sequel is Square Enix's survival horror and action RPG. It's been 15 years since humanity lost to the virus. The last great human settlement exists within an unyielding and relentless world, plunged into the modern dark age. You play Aiden Caldwell, an infected survivor with exceptional agility and brutal combat skills. Players will make tough decisions and tough sacrifices as you decide the fate of a collapsing society. The effect of the choices you make will have a huge impact on entire regions of the city. You can play the entire campaign in one or four player co-op. The game will be released in the spring of 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
In Halo Infinite, players do not alternate between playing as Master Chief and others, but continue their saga after the events of Halo 5, leading the franchise in ambitious and unexpected directions, fueled by a new Slipspace Engine. The 343 Industries and Xbox Game Studios first-person shooter will be released sometime during the holiday season of 2020 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
The next LEGO-themed action adventure game will let you play all nine saga movies in a brand new video game like no other. Fly through space to the most memorable planets in the saga, in any order and at any time. The Warner Bros. Title Interactive Entertainment will be released in 2020 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
