This latest brave series by the co-creator and award-winning producer of global success Y Gwyll / Hinterland, Ed Talfan, marks the return of astute and undisturbed detectives: the newly promoted DCI Cadi John (Sian Reese-Williams, Emmerdale, Line) of Duty , Hinterland) and DS Owen Vaughan (Siôn Alun Davies, Hinterland), as they unravel dark secrets in a mining town in the Blaenau Ffestiniog mountains. While Cadi and Vaughan have a new case in hand, three teenagers – Mia Owen (Annes Elwy, BBC's Little Women), Connor Pritchard (Steffan Cennydd, last summer) and Lee Williams (Siôn Eifion, 35) have blood. As their lives – and the investigation – unfold, they soon discover that there is nowhere to hide. Was Ellis shot for previous sins, or was an innocent man wrongly appointed by disaffected teenagers? The investigation leads Cadi and Owen to delve deeper into the troubled lives of these mysterious young characters – as they discover a world of lies, revenge, cruelty and neglect.

When not chasing new leads and navigating endless twists through this complicated investigation, Cadi and Owen are recovering from personal milestones: Cadi is still mourning the death of his former police detective father and feels guilty for refuting a very important case. of him before he died while lending the necessary emotional support to her family. “Writing the second series of Hidden was a great opportunity to visit one of these small towns and examine a complex cultural and socioeconomic scenario,” explains series writer Caryl Lewis. “The three young men bounce off the plot and commit what appears to be a meaningless act of violence. We continue with the formula of & # 39; why do it & # 39; again this season in order to spend time with our three characters and delve deeper into their worlds. Among other things, we address the lack of agency among young people; poverty, neglect, political apathy and abuse, and reflect on the fact that perhaps, in a way, we all share the blame as a society for the results of these problems. "

Lewis adds: “Hidden is not meant to be an easy watch. Sometimes it pushes us into difficult spaces. Hidden is about lighting dark places. Preparing and trying not to judge. It is an exercise in understanding and compassion and, ultimately, because of that, a drive for hope. "
