Anthony Ramos of The Heights directs science fiction comedy Distant
A few days after the debut of the first trailer for his next big screen performance In the Heights, Anthony Ramos found his next project in the form of the upcoming science fiction comedy Distant on Amblin Entertainment, according to Variety.

The film, which is being written by Spenser Cohen (Extinction) and directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon (Office Christmas Party), will follow an asteroid miner falling on an alien planet and facing environmental challenges. Distant will be produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Midnight Special), Fred Berger (La La Land) and Anna Halberg (Extinction), with Speck and Gordon ready for executive production alongside Speck, Gordon, Jonathan Rothbart and Matt Hirsch with Kevin Vafi co-production.

Ramos started on Broadway in partnership with Lin-Manuel Miranda for his hit In the Heights, for which he will star as Usnavi de la Vega in the upcoming film adaptation, after initially portraying Sonny on stage, and Hamilton as John Laurens and Phillip Hamilton.
