Jonathan Entwistle is developing a Power Rangers reboot
Two years ago, Lionsgate restarted the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to the big screen. However, fans of the original series and the current generation of fans have failed to support it. Regardless of this result, Paramount is ready to try again with a fresh look at the classic team.
By VarietyParamount aligned The End of the F *** ing creator Jonathan Entwistle to develop a power Rangers restart. Paramount acquired the rights after the Lionsgate reboot failed to relaunch the franchise. Patrick Burleigh, writer for Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, is set to provide the script for the new movie.
One of the biggest changes for the Power Rangers is that Hasbro owns the franchise now. This puts the Rangers under the same company as G.I. Joe, Transformers, Micronauts and ROM. For years, Hasbro Studios has sought a shared Marvel-style universe for its adaptations. It is unclear whether Hasbro is still suffering from MCU envy and whether Power Rangers would be part of this universe.
