Josh Boone unveils New Mutants trailer in January
While airing a limited edition of Stephen King's 2014 novel Revival on Instagram, Josh Boone revealed in the comments that a new trailer for the long-running horror comic adaptation The New Mutants is coming to the public next month, which could mean that the Movie is still on the way for its theatrical release in April!

In addition to Boone's confirmation of a January debut, comic book illustrator Bill Sienkiewicz revealed in an interview with Kevin Smith on his Fatman in Batman the podcast that Boone sent him a new work-in-progress trailer, calling it "phenomenal", saying it gave him chills and "more like Marvel in terms of what they are doing."
The remakes were originally commissioned by Fox to try to expand the positive feedback from the horror elements in the first trailer. They were scheduled to shoot again in September 2018 for a release date on August 2, 2019, but without the scheduled additional production, the movie's release date had been left in limbo. Sources say the decision to go ahead with the remake is in the hands of writer / director Josh Boone.
Some have questioned whether the movie will receive a theatrical release. Given the acquisition of Fox by Disney, rumors circulate that the movie may debut at Disney + or Hulu instead of a traditional theatrical release. This would align with Marvel's growing relationship with Hulu after the streaming service commissioned the company's four original animated series, as well as negotiations to revive all Marvel series that Netflix canceled.

The movie stars Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, The Witch) as Magik and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones, gen: LOCK) as Wolfsbane, with Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as sunspot, Blu Hunt as Dani Moonstar and Charlie Heaton of Stranger Things as cannonball.
The New Mutants adapts the monthly comic book series of the same name that was released in 1982. Created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, The New Mutants follows a group of mutant teenagers as heroes in training at the Marvel Universe. The film is expected to move away from the sci-fi spectacle of other X-Men films and instead be described as a "Stephen King meets John Hughes" horror movie.
In November 2017, ComingSoon.net uniquely unveiled a leaked and animated concept from the movie featuring Wolfsbane, Magic and Cannonball facing the Demon Bear.
