New Walking Dead Spinoff Teaser Reveals Official Title

AMC has released a new teaser for its second spin-off series of The Walking Dead, revealing that the new post-apocalyptic series has now been officially titled The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The video also confirmed that Emmy winner Julia Ormond (Temple Grandin) has joined the cast for the role of Elizabeth, who is being described as a charismatic leader of a great sophisticated and formidable force. "I'm so thrilled to work with The Walking Dead team – I love how they write for women in particular; a lovely, talented and great cast back to AMC," Ormond said in a statement (via Deadline)

“We are thrilled that Julia joins our happy band. I am grateful for the talent, grace, intelligence and humor she brought to our set, our show and this role. We – and the public – are very lucky to have Julia helping to bring this new world of Walking Dead to life, ”said co-creator Scott Gimple.

In addition to Ormond, Natalie Gold, Al Calderon, Scott Adsit and Ted Sutherland were also cast as recurring guest stars, portraying the roles of Lyla, Barca, Tony and Percy, respectively.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will serve as the franchise's third television show after The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. According AMC, the series will feature two young female protagonists and will focus on the first generation to reach adulthood in the apocalypse. Some will become heroes, others will become villains. In the end, they will all change forever. Grown up and cemented in their identities, good and bad.

The series will feature Alexa Mansour as Hope, Nicolas Cantu as Elton, Hal Cumpston as Silas, Annet Mahendru as Huck, Aliya Royale as Iris, Nico Tortorella as Felix and Joe Holt as Leo Bennett.

The Walking Dead spinoff will feature writer and producer Matt Negrete alongside content director Scott M. Gimple. The series received an order of 10 episodes.

The first spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, airs season five, with new episodes premiering every Sunday night at AMC. The Walking Dead is scheduled to return for its tenth season in October.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is due to air in spring 2020.
