In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly Awardist podcast, Robert Pattinson shared why he agreed to live Batman on the big screen. In this case, he explained that his involvement in this production is due to the story of the Batman franchise in film and TV.
“There was always something that drew me about it. Batman films have always had great directors and actors, leaving a legacy, ”he said. The actor added that the reason for accepting the role was not only for money. Check out the video below (in English; from 14 minutes and 44 seconds):
Pattinson also stressed the importance of the character as an icon, including because of the 60's TV series. “People still watch the show, it's a classic. It's very well produced, with great performances and quite interesting, like an artistic quality TV show. ”
"I always felt they didn't make these movies to sell toys, even if it was part of it, but there was something special." In one more reference, now to the long films directed by Tim Burton, he made only a brief mention: "I'm obsessed with them."

Pattinson also recalled that he learned of his official casting for the role of the Batman on the first day of the shooting of Tenet – Christopher Nolan's new film, which opens in 2020.
However, due to the upheaval of filming, and intent on keeping his new conquest a secret, he did not talk to the director of the Dark Knight trilogy, "even though it seems everyone already knew about the news." With recordings starting last Sunday, The Batman has a confirmed premiere on June 25, 2021.
