Real detective actress Leven Rambin joins the purge 5

According DeadlineHunger Games and True Detective actress Leven Rambin has joined Purge 5, yet to be titled, from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Pictures. This is the actress' latest major project, which recently completed The Big Ugly and is currently filming director David Fincher's Mank.

Purge 5 will be released on July 10, 2020, with director Jason Reitman opening alongside Sony's Ghostbusters Afterlife.

Last year, franchise creator James DeMonaco (writer / director of The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year) revealed that he plans to make the fifth film in the series the last. Talking to EWDeMonaco said the 12-hour annual lawless riot in the United States will end.

"I think it's a great way to end it. I think we want to end it, and I'm very excited. When I came up with the idea and showed it to everyone, they seemed excited, and I think it will be a really nice ending, as we will take this home. ”

The film will be produced by Jason Blum, DeMonaco and Sébastien K. Lemercier of the duo Man In A Tree, and Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.

The Purge series began in 2013 with the first film, a smaller-scale invasion thriller starring Ethan Hawke. The film grossed $ 89.3 million worldwide and kicked off the franchise, which has so far grossed $ 456.8 million in worldwide box office in four films (with each movie's box office total beating its predecessor).

The series made the transition to television last year with the 10-episode series of the same name on the American network. A second season of The Purge was also commissioned last year.
