Watchmen Season 1 Recap

Watchmen Season 1 Summary

HBO's watchmakers added to the rich universe that Alan Moore created with his comic book series and brought him to a familiar but different present day. To wrap up our Watchmen recaps, we are revisiting the great bombs of the station that alter the universe.

The Truth About Hooded Justice

At first, the Watchmen and Angela Abar series felt far removed from comic book events. But the revelation that Will Reeves, the mysterious old man in the wheelchair, was the hero known as the revamped Hooded Justice, not just the series but all the myths of the universe. Hooded justice was considered the first of the masked heroes and inspired the creation of the Minutemen.

Even the program within the program, American Hero Story, supposed that Hooded Justice was just a white man who turned to vigilantism to be a hero. The truth is that Will Reeves, a Tulsa Massacre survivor and police officer, saw racial injustices and conspiracies around him and understood that a mask helped him do what his badge could not correct them.

The Adrian Veidt Statue

Watchmen Season 1 Summary

Lady Trieu brought a golden statue of Adrian Veidt, a person she claimed to be a mentor and benefactor. Not only did we discover that Lady Trieu's biological father was Veidt, but the golden statue itself was himself. Trieu rescued him from the isolated utopia that Dr. Manhattan created from Europe. She preserved it as a statue and revived him to see her realize her master plan to destroy Dr. Manhattan and seize his powers.

The Blue Husband

Watchmen Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

Speaking of Dr. Manhattan, we knew he wasn't on Mars all the time. Angela fell in love with Jon Osterman, also known as Dr. Manhattan, in Vietnam. He assumed the identity of a dead man without family, became Calvin Jelani, and married Angela. They moved to Tulsa together, knowing that their time together would be limited. Although Angela did not prevent her capture and death, it seemed that Jon might have passed some of his powers to her.
