The second season of You ended with several revelations and the possibility of many changes if the series is renewed. Showrunner and co-creator Sera Gamble spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about continuing the story for another year and what paths the show can take.

“Our fingers are crossed to keep telling the story,” showrunner said. “When we sold the show, we described it broadly, as each season would be a new obsession with love and a new world. Season one is Beck in New York, season two is Love in Los Angeles, so we are suggesting where we would like to go, which is a much more suburban and island world where Joe would be a fish out of water. "

Gamble also said he did not plan the series for many seasons and would rather take advantage of the ideas he has rather than keep them for the future.

“I never like to mess with things being too specific one way or the other,” the producer explained. “We still have a lot of stories to tell, (but) it's a difficult scenario for TV right now, there's more competition, so we never save anything for later seasons. Our golden rule is if we have a great idea, we'll give it to you now. ”

Showrunner also commented on John's return for season two.

"We wanted to see John's character again and we had a long talk about what would be the most fun way to bring him back knowing he was in prison," said Gamble. “We've come up with a lot of ideas, but in the end we like it because it's just a fun turn to the character, but also because it's essentially a horror scene from Forty's point of view. It's funny, but it's horrible at the same time. ”

Finally, Gamble commented on the possibility of bringing other characters back to the series in a possible third season.

“First of all, I don't see why not,” the showrunner admitted. “Part of Joe's fun is that he's not very good at doing bad things. He does not plan them well and does not perform them well. And there is always a concern that things from the past will catch up. What's great about it is that it creates a landscape for the show where you can revisit your favorite characters in the future. So this door remains open for us. One of the things I enjoy doing most is to bring back a dead person to haunt you. So the door is open. ”
